Job summary

HCA Midwest Hospitals is seeking a Nurse Extern Student Nurse to support the nursing team and gain hands-on experience in patient care. You will contribute to safe, compassionate care while building the skills to progress through your nursing program.

You will perform basic nursing tasks, assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and participate in learning opportunities to advance your clinical competencies within a supportive onboarding environment.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Active enrollment in a RN program and nursing fundamentals completed by start date.
• Nursing fundamentals must be actively taken to interview.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless.
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and offering guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices and managing equipment.
• Engaging in learning opportunities and collaborating with supervision to build your career development plan.
