Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Nursing Extern to support the nursing staff with basic patient care under RN supervision. You will help with activities of daily living, document care, and communicate essential information to the care team.

You must be enrolled in an accredited RN program and in good standing. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, current BLS, and the ability to complete required certifications within stated timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification current and maintained as per hospital policy.
• Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program.
• Can be considered for Nurse Extern after completion of first nursing semester or CNA in first RN semester.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for patient populations served.
• Communicate pertinent information to appropriate individuals.
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting patient rights and dignity.
• Document patient care information in the appropriate computer screens.
• Assist with ADLs for assigned patients.
