Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to gain hands-on experience within the Cardiology Stepdown unit. You will assist nursing staff with essential patient care, monitor vital signs, and participate in discharge planning under supervision.

As a current nursing student with CNA certification, you will develop clinical skills, learn infection prevention practices, and collaborate with a supportive team dedicated to patient wellbeing and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in a nursing program where the controlling institution of the nursing program is accredited
• NC (CNA) Certified Nursing Assistant

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices
• Championing growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities and building your personal career development plan
