Job summary

Valley View Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern to join our team in a PRN role with varied shifts (days or nights). You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision and contribute to a supportive, collaborative hospital environment.

Applicants must be nursing students in their third year or higher and obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. This position offers flexible scheduling with approximately 4 shifts per month, including at least two weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in nursing school and in their third year or higher.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; thrives in fast-paced, high-stress environments.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and communicates patient condition.
• Maintains professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and health care team.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

• Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse while monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition appropriately.
• Maintains positive professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and health care team.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

• Applicants should be currently enrolled in nursing school and in theirthird years or higher of the program. Additional requirements include:
• Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
