Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL is seeking a Nurse Extern to support direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will collaborate with the patient care team to contribute to patient journeys and leverage technology to improve outcomes.

You must be enrolled in a nursing program and have BLS either already or within two weeks of start. This role offers growth opportunities within Lifepoint Health and a strong commitment to community health.

Qualifications

• Applicants should be enrolled in the nursing program at their selected university/college
• BLS required OR obtained within 2 weeks of start.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the patient care team to provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Document patient care given and monitor patient condition as appropriate to the supervising RN.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and the health care team.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinate patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
• Assess learning needs of patients and families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, and condition.

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patients
