Job summary

Mission Health in Asheville, NC seeks a Nurse Educator Progressive Care to elevate clinical practice within our Progressive Care units. You will design and deliver educational programs, coach staff, and mentor teams to provide patient-centered care.

You will plan orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education for high-acuity, monitored patients, developing materials and simulation scenarios aligned with clinical guidelines.

Qualifications

• BSN is required; master’s degree in nursing education or related field strongly preferred.
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina (or compact eligibility), BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• PCCN or a similar progressive care certification is preferred or expected within a defined timeframe.
• Experience in nursing education, staff development, or precepting is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education for nursing staff caring for high-acuity, monitored patients.
• Develop and maintain educational materials, simulation scenarios, and skills labs aligned with current clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource on the unit, providing real-time coaching, precepting, and mentoring to support safe practice and quality outcomes.
• Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, facilitate adoption of evidence-based protocols, and support quality and safety projects.
• Analyze performance and quality metrics, identify knowledge gaps, and design targeted educational interventions.
• Support initiatives related to sepsis management, cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and progressive care technologies.
• Participate in committees, contribute to policy and procedure development, and assist with accreditation readiness.
• Educate staff on documentation standards, patient safety, and patient- and family-centered communication.
• Assist in onboarding new graduate nurses and experienced hires, and map individualized professional development plans.
