Job summary

Position Summary:The Nurse Educator for Perioperative Services supports high-quality surgical care by developing, coordinating, and evaluating education and competency programs for perioperative nursing staff and the Surgical Technician Program. This role provides clinical expertise across the Operating Room, GI Lab, PACU, Prep/Recovery, Pre-Admission Testing, and Central Processing, ensuring staff are well prepared to deliver safe, evidence-based care throughout the perioperative continuum. Working collaboratively with clinical leaders and interdisciplinary teams, the Nurse Educator assesses learning needs, supports orientation and onboarding processes, and facilitates ongoing professional development. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are required for evaluating staff performance, troubleshooting equipment, and demonstrating safe clinical techniques.Environmental Requirements:Work is performed in perioperative settings such as operating rooms, PACU, procedure areas, and educational spaces. The role may be exposed to typical surgical environment risks including infectious agents, bodily fluids, sterilization chemicals, and equipment noise. Adherence to PPE requirements, aseptic practices, and safety protocols is essential. The environment may involve rapid workflow changes, high-acuity clinical demands, and the need to support staff across multiple locations within the surgical service line.
