UNC Medical Center Outpatient Education and Training team has an opportunity for a Nurse Educator. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team to support nursing and clinical staff professional development, including onboarding, competency, practice, and ongoing professional development for ambulatory/outpatient clinics and procedural areas. The primary responsibilities include onboarding/orientation programming and supporting educational and regulatory/competency needs. Additional responsibilities include supporting assigned clinics, skill training, apprentice programs, student placement, organizational initiatives, new products/equipment training, and policy/practice development. Experience in professional development/education, clinical experience in children’s and/or women’s services, and professional certification are preferred.
This is a weekday on-site position based at the Hedrick Building, Chapel Hill, NC. Occasional travel to off-site clinics will be required. Strong professional development/education experience is preferred.
The ideal candidates possess strong communication skills (oral and written), adaptability, creativity, initiative, and the ability to prioritize and organize. Prioritization and time management skills are essential, as this position involves managing multiple projects and clinics with autonomy and collaborative practice.
Coordinates staff development and educational needs of patient care nursing staff, patients, and families. This is an advanced-level position in education, performed under minimal supervision. Assignments may involve collaboration to address staff educational needs within a specialty practice area or service. The role may include serving in a lead capacity over others on special projects or as a subject matter expert. Work may be collaborative across multiple disciplines or focused on a specific patient population or service area.
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school.
Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, hold CPR/BLS certification, and obtain a professional certification in the area of specialization within 6 months of hire.
Experience: At least 3 years in tertiary care, with 2 years in the assigned specialty. Experience in education/professional development, ambulatory/outpatient, women’s or pediatric services is preferred.
Skills: Strong organization, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
