Job summary

Mission Hospital in Brevard, NC seeks a Nurse Educator to advance professional practice by delivering evidence-based educational programs for nursing, inter-professional and clinical staff at the facility.

The role partners with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to design onboarding, competency evaluation, and ongoing education that closes knowledge gaps and promotes lifelong learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
• Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• 2+ years of clinical education experience or leadership.
• Current RN license in the state of practice or active compact license.
• Nationally recognized specialty certification preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Participates in development and management of competency activities.
• Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice.
• Promotes and integrates evidence-based practice to improve patient care.
• Identifies strategies to foster lifelong learning and staff development.
• Utilizes novice-to-expert continuum to provide skill enhancement opportunities.
