Job summary

Rockport Healthcare Services in San Diego seeks a Director of Staff Development RN/LVN to lead the facility’s education programs and QA/improvement efforts, under administrator and director of nurses. You will plan, implement and evaluate staff education across all shifts.

The role requires a nursing degree, active RN or LVN license in California, at least two years supervising nursing staff in long-term care, and a 24-hour CE course in education.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN or LVN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum two years supervision experience in long-term care.
• Has a 24-hour CE course in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs.
• Possess mental and physical health.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee theoretical and clinical orientation for new employees.
• Provide annual in-services to meet state and federal regulations and company policy.
• Maintain in-service records and individual educational profiles.
• Supervise nursing staff on established procedures and provide one-on-one teaching as needed.
• Act as Infection Control Coordinator and attend scheduled trainings.
• Counsel nursing assistants and conduct nurse aide meetings as needed.
• Make daily rounds to ensure appropriate nursing care and staff scheduling.
