The position calls for RN (or LPN) licensure, hospital or long-term care experience, IV therapy knowledge, CMS regulations familiarity, and strong communication

Qualifications

• RN degree from an accredited program is preferred; LPN may be accepted.
• Valid state nursing license in states served by Symbria Rx Service Pharmacies.
• Clinical experience in hospital or long-term care (minimum two years).
• Knowledge of CMS long-term care regulations.
• Extensive IV therapy knowledge.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Audit medication carts/rooms for expired or discontinued meds.
• Conduct environmental and medication-use audits.
• Provide nursing education and in-services to community staff.
• Research current standards and therapies applicable to pharmacies.
• Observe medication pass processes and provide feedback.
• Develop nursing training and update policies as needed.

• Assist in start-up of new business when required.

Overview

Come join our Symbria Team! We are seeking a highly professional and dedicated individual to join our EMPLOYEE-OWNED TEAM as a Nurse Conslutant in the pharmaceutical industry at our Pharmacy in Pennsylvania!

Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Nurse Consultant, Multi-State is to provide nurse consulting to long-term care facilities serviced by Symbria pharmacies, assisting in assuring our clients' needs are fulfilled and quality customer service is provided. Providing support and guidance on such areas as nursing education, compliance audits, public health survey preparation and other State and Federal nursing community regulatory requirements. This position helps serve as a liaison between the long-term care communities serviced and pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Audit medication carts/rooms for expired drugs or discontinued drugs.
• Perform environmental audits, medication destruction audits, medication administration audits, provide educational in-servicing to community staff, etc.
• Research current standards, therapies, and other topics as it relates to nursing for pharmacies and long term care communities.
• Observe skilled nursing community medication pass process and provides feedback.
• Assist in new business start-up implementation when necessary.
• Perform mock surveys.
• Plan and conduct pharmacy related nursing education to include wound care, medication administration education, competency assessment activities, and other related topics.
• Act as a performance improvement resource for the pharmacy.
• Develop and maintain relationships with professional organizations and national/state agencies to enhance knowledge base relative to pharmaceutical therapies and education.
• Conduct nursing related education and pharmacy staff education to include intravenous therapy, wound care, and other related topics.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing training classes on various topics.
• Assist in the development of new policies and procedures and/or the updating of existing policies and procedures.
• Any and all duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Work schedules vary at each client location, and requires flexibility to travel, including some out-of-state travel to different pharmacy and client locations. This position is 3 -4 day/week position(24-32 hours).

Qualifications

• Registered Nursing degree (RN) from an accredited college or university is preferred; LPN degree from an accredited college or university may be accepted.
• Valid state nursing license in states Serviced by Symbria Rx Service Pharmacies
• Clinical experience in a hospital or Long Term Care setting; minimum two years.
• General knowledge of long-term care pharmacy operations preferred including CMS long-term care regulations.
• Extensive knowledge in intravenous (IV) therapies
• General computer knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to maintain organization, prioritize, multi-task and work independently. Exhibit initiative and reliability.
• Exercise professional phone, verbal and written communication skills.
