A leading healthcare institution is seeking a Nurse Clinician who will demonstrate expertise in patient assessment and treatment, and play a key role in program development and staff education. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in nursing, RN licensure, and substantial experience in the field.
The Nurse Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of complex patients and their responses to health problems. This role involves assisting the healthcare team with illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and patient comfort. The Nurse Clinician provides leadership, education, and accountability for program development, implementation, and evaluation within their area of responsibility. It also includes staff development, empowerment, and resource management to achieve quality, efficiency, and cost-effective outcomes.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility in a compact state
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current RN Licensure in Virginia
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Experience REQUIRED:
5 years of nursing experience
At least one year in the specific patient population or practice setting
Experience PREFERRED:
Experience in staff education and professional development
Academic healthcare experience
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in nursing; enrollment in a Master's program at application and completion within 36 months of hire. Consideration for extended timelines for certain programs.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Master's Degree in Nursing or related field; if not in Nursing, a Bachelor's in Nursing is required.
Independent actions:
Full authority for program planning, guideline development, and setting practice standards aligned with organizational goals. Manages resources to ensure quality services with measurable outcomes.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Negotiable with supervisor, in collaboration with Nurse Manager.
Additional requirements:
Primarily day shift; flexibility may be needed for projects or staffing needs.
Age-specific groups served: As per unit assignment.
Physical requirements:
Lifting 20-50 lbs. and 50-100 lbs.
Prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
Mental skills include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking, reading, and logical thinking.
Emotional resilience for fast-paced, noisy, and changing environments.
