Mercy Hospital St Louis is seeking a Nurse Clinician to implement and coordinate nursing education and quality improvement programs across divisions. You will work with Nursing Leadership, TDO, physicians, and staff to enhance patient care, drive clinical education, and model expert nursing practice in diabetes and complex patient situations.

• Minimum 3 years of inpatient nursing experience.
• Nursing degree from an accredited school.
• MSN preferred.
• Active RN license in the state.

• Ability to function independently with initiative and strong clinical knowledge.

Responsible for implementing, in coordination with Nursing Leadership and Talent Development Optimization (TDO), programs aimed at improving competencies and increasing awareness of nursing trends. In conjunction with Nurse Managers, TDO, Physician leaders, and administration, develops and monitors QI programs for the Nursing Divisions, and all other Ancillary Departments. Coordinates clinical education at the unit and overall division level. Serves as a clinical consultant and a role model by planning and coordinating patient care in area of specialty practice. Acts as a consultant to the bedside nurse regarding specialty patient situations, directing the nurse in the appropriate direction and providing the necessary education. Including but not limited to IV therapy, wound therapy and care of the complex patient. As a resource person for the Hospital, consults with physicians, consumers, community and other health care disciplines. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years' inpatient nursing experience
• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
• Preferred Education: MSN
• License: current RN license in our state
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Other: The person must be able to function well with a high degree of independence and initiative and possess an in-depth knowledge of clinical nursing. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
