Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Clinical Supervisor RN for Medical‑Surgical Services on nights and evenings. You will oversee staffing to ensure safe, high‑quality care while meeting productivity and financial goals.

You will collaborate with physicians and administrative staff to optimize patient flow and bed management and provide mentorship to direct care providers. Preferred candidates hold 3–5 years of hospital nursing experience and a current RN license, with additional certifications (TNCC/ACLS/ENPC

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold an active RN license.
  • 3–5 years of hospital nursing experience required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or course within probation; TNCC/ACLS/ENPC or PALS.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and clinical competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, high‑quality, cost‑effective patient care with appropriate staffing.
  • Collaborate with physicians and administrative staff to improve processes and patient flow.
  • Monitor bed management and resource utilization in coordination with Staffing Office.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to nursing staff and evaluate care delivery with Clinical Manager.

Clinical Supervisor ensures units are appropriately staffed to provide patient care. Clinical Supervisor is proactively involved in patient flow and bed management issues in collaboration with the Staffing Office. They are leaders who inspire a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting it to co-workers with enthusiasm. Clinical Supervisor models the way by displaying professional standards, a positive attitude, and engaging co-workers to become leaders of change. They challenge current process and enable others to promote change by providing support, mentorship, and guidance to those who provide direct patient care. Clinical Supervisor encourages the heart of co-workers by providing both public and private recognition and connecting on a personal level with those they serve through servant leadership. Clinical Supervisor holds direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to policy and regulatory guidelines. Clinical Supervisor performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Values and Mercy Service Standards. Clinical Supervisor is involved in the evaluation process in collaboration with the Clinical Manager as directed. Position Details:
  • Clinical Supervisor RN – Medical‑Surgical Services | Nights& Evenings
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
  • Licensure: Current RN license with the Board of Nursing in the applicable State of practice.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of hospital nursing experience.
  • Certification/Registration: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probation period. TNCC, ACLS and ENPC or PALS.
  • Skills, knowledge and abilities: Demonstrates skills in human relations and communication, written verbal, and electronic.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in patient care delivery.
  • Possesses the ability to assess data and assist personnel in providing appropriate level of care.
  • Performs responsibilities while fulfilling the Philosophy of skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
