Job summary

Mercy Hospital St Louis is seeking a Nurse Clinician for Diabetes to join our team. This full-time days position features 4 x 9-hour shifts, with holidays off, and supports ongoing education and clinical leadership across nursing divisions. You will coordinate patient care, mentor staff, and participate in quality improvement initiatives within Mercy’s care network.

The role requires an RN with at least 3 years of inpatient experience, a nursing degree, and BLS certification. MSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 3 years' inpatient nursing experience.
• Nursing Degree from an accredited school.
• MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement and coordinate nursing education programs with Nursing Leadership and Talent Development Optimization.
• Develop and monitor Quality Improvement programs for Nursing Divisions and Ancillary Departments.
• Coordinate clinical education at unit and division level; function as a clinical consultant to bedside nurses.

Responsible for implementing, in coordination with Nursing Leadership and Talent Development Optimization (TDO), programs aimed at improving competencies and increasing awareness of nursing trends. In conjunction with Nurse Managers, TDO, Physician leaders, and administration, develops and monitors QI programs for the Nursing Divisions, and all other Ancillary Departments. Coordinates clinical education at the unit and overall division level. Serves as a clinical consultant and a role model by planning and coordinating patient care in area of specialty practice. Acts as a consultant to the bedside nurse regarding specialty patient situations, directing the nurse in the appropriate direction and providing the necessary education. Including but not limited to IV therapy, wound therapy and care of the complex patient. As a resource person for the Hospital, consults with physicians, consumers, community and other health care disciplines. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years' inpatient nursing experience
• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
• Preferred Education: MSN
• License: current RN license in our state
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Other: The person must be able to function well with a high degree of independence and initiative and possess an in-depth knowledge of clinical nursing. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Because of the changing needs of the department/institution, the appropriate percent of time devoted to the duties of the clinician, educator, researcher and consultant as outlined in duties and responsibilities may be contracted differently for certain periods of time.
