Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care per the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and to coordinate patient care with care teams across Clinic departments, hospitals, nursing homes, and home care agencies.

Responsibilities include interviewing for nursing history, assessing health knowledge, documenting in medical records, and administering medications (excluding chemotherapy). Emphasis on patient advocacy, education, and care coordination across settings.

Qualifications

• Qualified RN with ADN, diploma or BSN.
• Licensed in Illinois.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in patient education and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Interview for nursing history and assess health knowledge; document findings in medical records.
• Obtain medical information, vital signs and test results for physician examination and document in records.
• Provide patient advocacy and protect patient rights; address complaints about service.
• Evaluate need for referrals to Home Health or community agencies.
• Screen patient problems and provide advice or referrals to physician.
• Educate patients on prevention and health maintenance; document outcomes in records.
• Provide pre/postoperative instruction and home care guidance.
• Administer medications by all routes except chemotherapy (RN with specific certificate allowed).
• Assist physician by handling instruments, preparing equipment, and dressing changes.
• Coordinate nursing care across Clinic departments, hospitals, nursing homes, and pharmacies.
