Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a dedicated Nurse Assistant (CNA) for the Oncology department at St. John Hospital in Detroit. This PRN, 12-hour day shift role supports patient care, safety, and comfort as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Under RN supervision, you will contribute to care planning, respond to emergencies, and participate in ongoing education while upholding the system's standards of excellence and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA preferred.
• Completion of Nurse Assistant program or equivalent training, or currently enrolled in nursing program with Fundamentals of Nursing course completed.
• Foreign-trained and licensed RN who relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license may qualify.
• At least 1 year of previous NA/PCT/PAT or similar experience.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the RN, performs patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs.
• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Recognizes and participates in continuing education.
• Follows Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence.

Location: Henry Ford St. John Hospital
Department: Oncology
Schedule: PRN; 12hr Day Shift, 7:00am-7:30pm; weekends and holidays on rotation

General Summary

• Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.
• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
• Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
• Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.
• The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• CNA preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
