Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Nurse Assistant for the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit. This full-time role offers a 36-hour week with a 12-hour day shift from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, alternating weekends and holidays.

Under the supervision of an RN, you will perform patient care duties to ensure safety and comfort, support care planning, and respond to emergencies. CNA experience preferred; BLS certification required on orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program preferred.
• May be currently enrolled in a nursing program or foreign-trained RN may relocate to the US.
• May have 1+ year of NA/PCT/PAT or similar experience.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision provides patient care to meet safety and comfort needs.
• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing care.
• Responds to emergent situations according to procedures.
• Participates in continuing education and professional development.

Job Description

Location: Henry Ford St. John Hospital

Department: Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)

General Summary

• Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.


• Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.


• Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.


• Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.


• The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.


• CNA preferred.


• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
