Job summary

McLaren is seeking a Nurse Assistant to support patient-centered care under direct supervision of a nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and upholding HIPAA/OSHA standards in a night-shift setting.

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
2. Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
3. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
4. Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
5. Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
6. Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program ++OR++ enrollment in nursing school ++OR++ two or more years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date

Preferred:

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• One year prior work experience in a patient care environment
• Previous geriatric psychiatric experience
