Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Los Angeles Job Corps Center in Los Angeles, CA, seeking a nursing instructor. The role focuses on academic and career technical trade instruction per approved curricula, guiding students to achieve academic and clinical goals.

Qualified candidates hold a California RN or LVN license with nursing experience and training-education credentials as required by BRN/NATP.

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in relevant settings.
• Must be able to obtain BRN NATP instructor approval or BRN-approved teaching course.

What you will be doing:

You’ll be responsible for the academic and career technical trade instruction per approved curricula. They will provide training and basic guidance and direction to help students achieve their academic and trade goals.

Essential Functions

• Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance in designated areas of instruction.


• Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.


• Coordinate with counselors and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training and/ or instruction.


• Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines, recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.


• Maintain organized, clean, and safe training environment.


• Participate in student assessment panels, perform required documentation and evaluation using CIS (Center Information System) and other documentation systems.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Valid, active, and in good standing California RN or LVN license required.


• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (RN or LVN), one (1) year as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care hospice care or other long-term care setting.


• Must have one of the following completion of a course in teaching adults; or completion of a course approved by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) OR by an accredited educational institution; or BRN continuing education course certificate used to meet this requirement must comply with the requirements found in 16 CCR, 1450 et seq. Must be able to be approved by the California's Dept. of Public Health as a Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP) instructor.
