Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to support nursing staff in the Float Pool during night shifts. Under supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with patient care per care plans and hospital policies while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include routine care, data collection, and basic procedures such as glucose checks. Requires a high school diploma and BLS certification, with preferred six months of direct patient care experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Specialized education options include acute care nursing assistant course, long term care nursing assistant course, EMT, medical assistant, or clinical rotation in an accredited program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred; at least six months if specialized education not met.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or MTN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care under RN supervision, including call light response, ambulation, transfer and positioning, personal hygiene, and bowel/bladder assistance.
• Collect, record, and report patient data; monitor and report changes in condition.
• Perform basic nursing duties such as skin preps, bedside glucose testing, and quality control of glucose instruments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provides routine patient care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance, prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance, etc.
• Collects, records, and reports various patient data.Reports changes in patient condition.
• Performs surgical skin preps, basic skin care procedures, bedside finger stick blood sugars, and quality control checks of blood glucose instruments.

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education requirements, for those not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistance experience requirement, include:
• acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions or
• long term care nursing assistant course or
• completion of an emergency medical technician program or
• completion of medical assistant program or
• completion of a clinical rotation while participating an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred. Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months is required when the specialized education requirements identified above has not been met
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
