Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking an RN Apprentice to provide direct patient care under supervision as part of a 24/7 health system. The role involves patient and family contact, assisting with ADLs, and supporting a clean, safe care environment.

Successful candidates will join a Level 1 trauma center with opportunities to advance to Clinical Nurse after nursing board exams and licensure. The position requires rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Supervised patient care under RN guidance and policy.
• Diligent documentation of nursing process in patient records.
• Active participation in patient education and discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Works under the supervision of a registered nurse to assess, plan, implement and re-evaluate interventions for solving patient care problems.
• Formulates care plans for specific patients, consults with supervising nurse for oversight, and documents the nursing process in patient's record.
• Develops and participates in educating patients and families about post discharge care programs.
• Keeps current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.
• Assists the patient with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Performs unit specific duties as required.
• Rotates schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet staffing needs.
