Position Summary: Prepares prescribed solutions and administers anesthetic following specified methods and procedures. Informs physician of patient's condition during anesthesia. Performs pre-and post-anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records.


THIS IS A REFERRAL BONUS-ELIGIBLE POSITION FOR INTERNAL EMPLOYEES

Education/Experience: Master's or Doctorate Degree in nursing from an accredited MSN program with a CRNA program and licensed to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid State of Nevada License to Practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse, and; State of Nevada License to Practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications, and; DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate, and; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Post-Master's certification from a COA-accredited Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program
  • Pediatric anesthesia experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of: Anesthesiology scope of practice and core competencies; current evidence and standards of anesthesiology nursing care within specialty area to include regular maintenance through continuing education; hospital practice and documentation standards; department and hospital policies and procedures; patient rights; workplace safety; infection prevention; storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials; emergency response; etc.

Skill in: Patient assessment in analyzing a patient's health records before administering anesthetics to help them provide the safest, most effective results and decide whether they will administer general anesthesia, regional or local anesthesia, or intravenous sedation; accessing and interpreting electronic health records; effectively managing complex tasks and responsibilities. Ability to use of computer software/applications related to duties; maintaining accurate records and files; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, including stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, and strength to examine and treat varied patients, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
