This role prepares you for state certification as STNA or CNA, assisting residents with ADLs and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Graduated from a state approved nursing assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Measure and record vital signs and intake/outtake as directed.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and using lift devices.
• Respond to call lights and changes in resident condition; report to licensed staff.
• Support independence and dignity while ensuring safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation per facility procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Provide postmortem care.
• Make routine rounds every two hours.
• Contribute to assessments and plan of care.
• Provide nursing rehabilitation/restorative services.

The Nursing Assistant in Training provides supervised resident care in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulatory standards. This role serves as a preparatory step toward certification as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures a safe and comfortable environment, and supports licensed nursing staff in delivering individualized care in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care, including assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinent care as applicable, oral hygiene and feeding.
• Measure and record vital signs, weight, percentage of meal consumed intake/output as directed.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and position using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as applicable.
• Respond promptly to call lights, resident needs, and changes in condition; report observations to licensed nursing staff.
• Support residents' independence and dignity, while ensuring safety and comfort.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and in accordance with facility procedures.
• Maintains a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
• Provides postmortem care.
• Make routine rounds on each assigned resident every two hours.
• Contributes to the residents' assessment (MDS/CAA's) and the plan of care.
• Provides nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services

Education and/or Experience

• High School Graduate/GED

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Must have graduated from a state approved nursing assistant training program and must pass a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within 120 days of employment; name entered into state nurse aide registry.
