Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking for a predictable, daytime outpatient role in mental health? Prairie View is seeking a skilled, independent Outpatient RN to join our team in Wichita, KS.

What You’ll Do
  • Prescriber & Patient Liaison: Triage patient calls, address medication questions/side effects, coordinate prescription refills per protocol, and follow up on physician, ARNP, and PA orders.
  • Clinic Nursing Care: Administer medications, manage patient medication assistance programs (MAP), coordinate sample distribution, and maintain secure inventory controls.
  • Crisis Response & Triage: Handle urgent or emergent patient calls and on-site walk-in crisis situations, arranging admissions, precertification's, or follow-up care as directed.
  • Clinic Administration & Vendor Relations: Serve as the primary contact for pharmaceutical representatives, schedule pharmaceutical luncheons, oversee proper disposal of regulated medical materials, and execute USDOT-compliant medical waste protocols and spill kit audits.
  • Care Coordination & Teamwork: Act as a liaison with hospitals, primary care offices, pharmacies, and utilization review staff while collaborating smoothly across other internal departments.
  • Documentation & Standards: Maintain thorough clinical documentation with progress notes completed within 72 hours, ensuring strict patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Graduate from accredited program of nursing education; BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree preferred but not required; current Registered Nurse license with Kansas State Board of Nursing required
  • Minimum Experience: Two years in psychiatric nursing preferred
  • Must have good command of the English language; must be able to read, communicate verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
  • Must have excellent therapeutic communication and relational skills with patients and staff
  • Must be able to observe patient demeanor and non-verbal communication for assessment purposes
  • Must be able to obtain information and make judgments in emergent situations
  • Must be able to observe and interact with patients of all ages
  • Must have knowledge about medications and their side effects, or at least the ability to obtain the information quickly
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be willing to have some flexibility in scheduling, to meet patient and organization needs
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for period of up to two hours
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and reach over head
  • Must maintain CEs and Kansas State licensure
  • Must have current CPR license
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources and other treatment providers
  • Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
  • Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children
