Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA seeks a Numerical Control Craft Leader to direct craft activities and ensure successful implementation of workstation tasks in shipbuilding and repair. You will read construction drawings, coordinate materials and labor, maintain schedules and budgets, and drive productivity while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

This role requires seasoned shipbuilding experience and proven leadership to train and motivate teams and resolve daily operational

Qualifications

• 7+ years shipbuilding or 5+ years in a similar role

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates related craft activities for assigned workstation.
• Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records.
• Reads and interprets construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation.
• Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available.
• Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay.
• Meets with production management to coordinate craft effort.
• Optimizes craft activities to produce high-quality work per company standards.
• Trains and motivates workforce for high productivity.
• Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops solutions.
• Confers with supervisors on hires, discharges, promotions or transfers of personnel.
• Enforces company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and elevations; wear respirator when applicable.

Job Title: Numerical Control Craft Leader

Position Overview

A Craft Leader is responsible for directing his/her craft in the successful implementation of workstation activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates related craft activities for assigned workstation.
• Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records.
• Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation.
• Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available.
• Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay.
• Meets with other members of production management to coordinate craft effort.
• Optimizes craft activities to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards.
• Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity.
• Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions.
• Confers with department supervisors on hires, discharges, promotions or transfers of personnel.
• Enforces all Company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards.
• Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
• Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’.
• Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable.

Qualifications

Seven (7) years shipbuilding or five (5) years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Possesses in-depth knowledge of craft-specific processes and techniques.
• Well-organized manager, with directly applicable experience in resource planning and scheduling.
• Works well with other craft managers.
• Exhibits high energy levels and maintains a good attitude.
• Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction/repair.
