Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA is seeking a Numerical Control Craft Leader to direct craft activities and ensure successful shipbuilding and repair operations. The role emphasizes planning, scheduling, and coordinating with production management to meet schedules and quality standards.

The candidate will read construction drawings, manage resources, and lead a motivated workforce while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years shipbuilding or five (5) years of continuous Company experience in a similar position preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates related craft activities for assigned workstation.
• Develops, reviews, and maintains construction plans, schedules, budgets and other essential records.
• Can read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical guidance documentation.
• Ensures material and labor resources necessary to accomplish tasks are readily available.
• Maintains work schedules; works overtime as needed to minimize project delay.
• Meets with other members of production management to coordinate craft effort.
• Optimizes craft activities to produce a high-quality work product consistent with Company standards.
• Trains and motivates workforce to result in high levels of productivity.
• Addresses daily personnel, equipment and facility issues; develops viable solutions and remedial actions.
• Confers with department supervisors on hires, discharges, promotions or transfers of personnel.
• Enforces all Company policies, procedures, work practices and safety standards.
• Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
• Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’
• Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable.

Position Overview

A Craft Leader is responsible for directing his/her craft in the successful implementation of workstation activities as it relates to associated shipbuilding and/or repair functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates related craft activities for assigned workstation.

• Familiar with standard marine practice and general specifications for construction/repair.
