Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Waste Handling Technician to support munitions manufacturing operations in a highly regulated, safety-driven environment.

You will process, treat, package, and manage waste streams, including DU-contaminated materials, ensuring compliance with environmental and radiological controls. The role is on-site in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and requires following detailed procedures, RWPs, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of waste handling, chemical processing, or industrial operations experience.
• Experience with hazardous materials; radiological or DU experience preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures in a regulated environment.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and safety commitment.
• Ability to wear PPE and work in controlled or radiological areas.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform stabilization and treatment of DU-containing and hazardous waste per procedures.
• Operate liquid waste treatment systems and effluent handling equipment.
• Handle, transfer, package, label, and store waste materials per requirements.
• Prepare waste for storage, shipment, or disposal with complete documentation.
• Follow safety, radiological, environmental, and waste-handling procedures; use PPE correctly.
• Operate and monitor pumps, mixers, tanks, and related systems; report abnormal conditions.
• Complete work under RWPs and approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate logs, records, manifests, and process data.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with waste segregation and housekeeping rules.
• Respond to spills, leaks, alarms, or abnormal conditions; report near misses.
• Collaborate with waste operations, environmental, radiological control, safety, and production teams.
• Support continuous improvement and safe waste-processing operations.
