Job summary

BWXT's Nuclear Fuel Services site in Erwin, Tennessee seeks a Waste Management Specialist responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state waste regulations across Transportation/Waste Management programs, including waste characterization, packaging, storage and disposition.

You will collaborate with on-site waste generators, guide adherence to criteria, and prepare characterization documents and sampling plans in line with EPA guidance and SW-846, supporting safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years experience in waste management with regulatory knowledge.
• Knowledge of RCRA, DOT and radioactive waste handling.

Responsibilities

• Interface with on-site waste generators to develop solutions to technical problems.
• Provide direction to waste generators for adherence to criteria.
• Review and approve work requests, determine strategies for waste characterization, packaging, storage and disposal.
• Develop/revise waste characterization documents.
• Prepare sampling and analysis plans per EPA guidance and SW-846.
• Interpret lab data and characterize material for disposal per regulations.
