Job summary

Kiewit in Lenexa, KS is seeking an entry level Contract Specialist to support the Nuclear market. You will handle the full life cycle of procuring materials, equipment and services for assigned projects, from RFPs through delivery and closeout, developing, reviewing and negotiating contracts with suppliers, and serving as the primary contact for the project team and vendors.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with at least 2 years of contracts and procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field; 2+ years in contracts/supply chain.
• Experience with RFPs, contract development/negotiation, and procurement execution.
• Experience with engineers, estimators, buyers, logistics and expediting in procurement.
• 2+ years of supplier negotiation and contract review experience.
• Construction/federal market exposure preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with databases and SAP a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and negotiate terms and conditions of supplier contracts.
• Manage supplier contracts and relationships to meet standards and client requirements.
• Evaluate suppliers on price, quality, service, and reliability.
• Ensure best value and correct quantities per specifications and drawings.
• Prepare and issue RFPs; evaluate vendor proposals against budget and schedule.
• Contribute to procurement templates and leverage vendors for cost savings.
• Discuss defects and take corrective action with staff and vendors.
• Coordinate with logistics to ensure on-time shipments and resolve issues.
• Negotiate high-risk contracts and resolve escalated contract issues.
