Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an engineer to develop and maintain radiation analysis methods and shielding design tools for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. You will work on an agile team with NNPP experts to control radiation exposure across the life cycle of naval reactors and mentor junior staff as you grow in the field.

Preferred candidates include PhD in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Physics with radiation modeling and Python skills. All candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science field with 4+ years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; or
• Doctorate in a related field; or
• Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain radiation analysis methods and modeling tools for shielding design.
• Collaborate with NNPP experts to control radiation exposure throughout reactor life cycles.
• Balance autonomy and teamwork to deliver high-quality analysis tools for the Shielding organization.
• Seek mentorship and growth opportunities within a strong support network.
