Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo, CA-based startup, seeks a Nuclear Engineer, Sensors to own sensor and instrumentation solutions for Kaleidos microreactor. You will lead instrumentation initiatives and collaborate with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes detector design, modeling, environmental qualification, and integration with reactor control. A degree in nuclear engineering and 1–2+ years in the field are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent.
• 1-2+ years of nuclear engineering industry experience with exposure to radiation detection or instrumentation.
• Experience with radiation transport methods and codes (MCNP/OpenMC/Serpent).
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar scientific computing language.

Responsibilities

• Own sensor and instrumentation design and analysis for neutron flux and radiation monitoring.
• Support detector response modeling and verification using radiation transport codes.
• Evaluate sensor survivability under high-temperature, high-radiation environments.
• Integrate sensor outputs with reactor control and DAQ systems.
• Support V&V against customer and regulatory requirements.
