Job summary

RadiantRadiant, based in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Nuclear Engineer to own sensor and instrumentation solutions for the Kaleidos microreactor. You will lead detector design, radiation monitoring, and integration with reactor control systems, ensuring performance under challenging conditions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering teams, experience in radiation transport codes, and strong communication skills to drive safety and innovation in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• 1-2+ years of nuclear engineering industry experience (MS equivalent to 2 yrs).
• Experience with radiation transport methods and codes such as MCNP/OpenMC/Serpent.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar scientific computing language.
• Basic knowledge of thermal hydraulics.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in engineering organizations and delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Own sensor and instrumentation design and analysis for radiation detection and neutron flux monitoring.
• Collaborate with DAQ engineers to integrate sensor outputs into reactor monitoring and control systems.
• Support verification and validation against customer and regulatory requirements.
• Collect requirements and provide clear feedback to engineers in other areas.
• Lead instrumentation initiatives and strategic direction for Kaleidos reactor systems.
