Job summary

Constellation Energy Corp. in Clinton, IL is seeking a qualified Nuclear Security Officer to protect the health and welfare of the public by defending the station against sabotage and theft of special nuclear material.

The role requires armed patrols, access control, and surveillance of critical facilities; candidates must pass rigorous training, maintain licensure, and be able to work 12-hour shifts, nights, and overtime.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain nuclear unescorted access.
• Must meet minimum state requirements to carry a firearm.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must have and maintain a REAL ID and/or REAL ID compliant ID.
• Must pass State and Federal required training or other qualifications for licensing.
• Must pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Must pass extensive background check.
• Must operate radio/telephone equipment and surveillance equipment.
• Must complete all required training for armed nuclear security assignments.
• Must pass psychological assessment and physical exams as appropriate.
• Ability to interact cordially with the public.
• Ability to transit to work location and posts.
• Ability to access and egress Bullet Resistant Enclosure Towers.
• Ability to lift <= 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain qualifications for position.
• Conduct patrols and inspections.
• Monitor access to security areas.
• Perform search activities.
• Respond to threats and contingency events.
• Perform equipment testing.
• Act as Armed Response Force member to protect nuclear centers.
• Conduct armed patrols (interior and exterior).
• Control access and egress of personnel, materials and vehicles.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
• Deter misconduct and safety violations.
• Maintain NRC and federal requirements for site access control.
• Complete training for armed nuclear security assignment.
• Document and record-keeping per guidelines.
