Job summary

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) is seeking a Nuclear Safety Subject Matter Expert to support USQ analyses and nuclear safety operations. The role requires onsite work in Aiken, South Carolina with possible occasional telework at the client’s discretion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years (20+ preferred) in Nuclear Safety with DOE/NNSA/government agencies.
• Minimum 5 years of USQ experience.
• SME in applying nuclear safety regs and standards (10 CFR 830, DOE-STD-3009/1189/1027).
• Track record in Actinide Manufacturing, Pu processing, or Uranium Production facilities (e.g., LANL TA-55, Y-12, UPF).
• Must work in a highly regulated, safety-conscious, security-focused environment; active DOE Q clearance required; US citizenship; Real-ID driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and communicate with stakeholders for nuclear safety and criticality for nuclear facilities.
• Prepare, review, and produce concise documentation on nuclear operations, DSA, TSRs.
• Perform USQ evaluations for proposed changes involving facility modifications, tests, operations, and procedures.
• Conduct Hazard Analyses and TSR control development for Hazard Category 2 and 3 facilities.
