Job summary

Aalo Atomics seeks a Nuclear Safety Integration Lead to coordinate and defend the safety basis and PDSA, aligning DOE requirements across thermal-hydraulics, neutronics, design, and risk. You will translate regulatory needs into actionable engineering work and ensure defensible safety documentation.

The role demands deep DOE safety-basis knowledge, strong technical judgment, and proven ability to drive alignment among teams to deliver a coherent safety case for the Aalo-1 microreactor program.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of nuclear safety analysis or safety basis experience.
• Experience coordinating multi-discipline inputs into safety basis documents (DSAs, PDSAs).
• Strong knowledge of DOE safety-basis requirements (10 CFR 830, DOE-STD-3009).
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into engineering analyses and documentation.
• Experience with PRA, deterministic safety analysis, and dose-consequence methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated PDSA content, requirements, and responsibilities plan for all contributing teams.
• Coordinate preparation, integration, and technical defense of PDSA and DOE safety documentation.
• Translate DOE safety-basis requirements into specific analysis and data needs for teams.
• Identify analytical methods, codes, and assumptions needing DOE alignment.
• Coordinate with Risk and Reliability and other disciplines to integrate inputs into the safety case.
• Track deliverables and escalate risks to ensure on-time DOE authorization.
• Maintain configuration management and traceability of safety inputs and assumptions.
