Job summary

Aalo Atomics is seeking a Nuclear Safety Manager to lead safety programs at the Aalo-X campus and ensure operations stay within the approved safety basis. You will personally perform safety analyses, USQ evaluations, and other core safety work while directing a team of safety professionals.

You will interface with DOE and regulators, drive hazard analyses, and ensure readiness for facility deployments while translating complex requirements into actionable programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or closely related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive nuclear safety experience in DOE facilities.
• Leadership experience managing nuclear safety teams or programs.
• Expert-level knowledge of safety basis processes, including DSA/TSR development.
• Experience interfacing with DOE on safety submittals and reviews.
• Experience with DOE safety requirements and hazard classification.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, review, and maintenance of safety basis documents.
• Author and approve safety analyses, evaluations, and safety docs.
• Manage USQ program per 10 CFR 830 requirements.
• Perform USQ screenings and serve as SME reviewer.
• Interface with DOE offices on submittals and regulatory interactions.
• Build and mentor a team of nuclear safety analysts and engineers.
• Oversee safety systems oversight program and documentation.
