Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a Nuclear Reactor Operations Trainer to join the MFC Reactor Training team. The role performs classroom, on-the-job, and simulator training, developing qualification programs and examinations in line with DOE SAT principles.

Responsibilities include creating learning objectives, reviewing procedures, and mentoring staff while coordinating with other trainers. A Level 2/3 pay band applies with DOE clearance requirements and multi-level placement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with required experience per Level 2/3.
• Master’s or PhD credentials considered with related experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DOE L clearance (US Citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technical facility-specific training and qualification programs.
• Create learning objectives, lesson plans, materials, and examinations to ensure staff proficiency.
• Review procedures and documents to assess impact on training programs and implement revisions.
• Establish and maintain examination question banks and administer written, oral, and performance exams.
• Conduct classroom, on-the-job, and simulator training across topics like nuclear physics and reactor systems.
• Participate in assessment and benchmarking activities and collaborate with training organizations.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate activities with other trainers.
• Document corrective measures and track deficiencies to closure.
