The successful candidate will design and validate reactor models with SCALE/VERA/OpenMC, develop fuel cycle analyses with Cyclus, publish findings, mentor junior staff, and uphold ORNL's safety and integrity values in daily work.

Qualifications

• PhD in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field.
• Publications demonstrating reactor analysis R&D.
• Experience with SCALE, VERA, MCNP, Serpent, OpenMC, and/or MOOSE.
• Programming with C/C++, Python, Fortran, Git, or CMake.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize and analyze reactor models using SCALE, VERA, OpenMC, MCNP, Serpent, MOOSE.
• Develop and analyze fuel cycle models using Cyclus to evaluate advanced strategies.
• Interact across organization structures and represent ORNL to sponsors and the professional community.
• Conduct work on scope and budget.
• Communicate results via journal articles, presentations, and code documentation.
• Mentor early career staff and engage with scientific societies.
