Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of nuclear industry experience, preferably involving air filtration, ventilation/HVAC, nuclear-qualified equipment, or safety-related systems.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and documents; ability to interpret complex specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects across full lifecycle from concept through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Modify standard products to meet unique customer needs per drawings and nuclear codes/standards.
  • Prepare quotations, costing documentation, and technical specifications/proposals for bids.
  • Engage with clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders in technical and commercial discussions.
  • Perform mechanical and fluid-dynamics calculations and assess safety-related aspects.

Position Objective:

We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Solutions Engineer to join our specialized team delivering custom-engineered air filtration, ventilation, and related systems for nuclear power plants, research facilities, and other nuclear-related applications worldwide. As a key technical contributor, you will support projects from initial concept through to installation and ongoing support, ensuring compliance with stringent nuclear industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations (including interaction with agencies such as the NRC, DOE, DOD, and international equivalents). This role combines strong mechanical/systems engineering, customer-facing technical expertise, commercial acumen, and industry engagement to drive solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and performance in demanding nuclear environments.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Serve as a core member of the Nuclear Solutions team, actively contributing to projects across the full lifecycle-from concept development and design through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Implement customized engineering solutions by modifying standard products to meet unique customer needs, including detailed interpretation and application of customer drawings, specifications, and nuclear industry codes/standards.
  • Perform thorough technical and commercial reviews of customer specifications, identifying risks, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide expert application guidance and technical support to customers, sales teams, and agents to ensure optimal system selection and performance.
  • Conduct mechanical, fluid dynamic, and system-level calculations (e.g., pressure drops, flow rates, structural integrity, filtration efficiency, and safety-related analyses).
  • Prepare comprehensive quotations, detailed costing documentation, and technical specifications/proposals for bids and projects.
  • Actively participate in technical and commercial discussions, meetings, and negotiations with clients, sales agents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with manufacturing partners, the supplier network, and third-party vendors to ensure timely, quality-compliant delivery of nuclear-grade components and systems.
  • Troubleshoot in-service AAF (or equivalent) equipment, diagnose issues, and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
  • Identify emerging business trends, customer needs, and technological gaps to inform new product development, R&D initiatives, and strategic roadmap contributions.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, technical committees, conferences, and working groups to build relationships, stay current on regulations/standards, and promote solutions.
  • Engage directly with government and regulatory agencies (e.g., U.S. NRC, DOE, DOD, and global nuclear entities) on technical, compliance, and licensing matters related to nuclear equipment and systems.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field;
  2. 5+ years of relevant experience in nuclear industry applications, preferably involving air filtration, ventilation/HVAC, nuclear-qualified equipment, or safety-related systems;
  3. SAP experience is a plus;
  4. Solid technical background, with understanding or hands on experience reviewing technical drawings and documents;
  5. Proven ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret complex technical drawings/specifications;
  6. Experience with quotation preparation, costing, and technical-commercial customer interactions;
  7. Contract review and terms and conditions experience a plus;
  8. Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills;
  9. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (trade shows, customer sites, supplier audits, etc.);
  10. U.S. citizenship or ability to obtain necessary security clearances may be required due to interaction with government agencies (DOE, DOD, etc.).
