Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is hiring Nuclear Operations Technician I/II to monitor plant surveillances and operate valves and equipment. The role involves routine testing, documentation, and adherence to safety procedures in a heavy industrial environment.

The position offers opportunities for training toward a Reactor Operator license, with a structured path from AO to RO/SRO over several years. Onsite work and shift work are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• For Nuclear Operations Tech II, minimum 1 of: RO or SRO license, Naval experience meeting Instant SRO program requirements, or a four-year engineering/technical degree.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an active member of station Fire Brigade.
• Report system and component status using computerized rounds.
• Start/stop plant equipment per procedures.
• Test operability of components and isolate/restore equipment.
• Outdoor surveillance year-round on day and night shifts.
• Pursue progression to licensed positions (RO/SRO) through training and exams.
