Job summary

Duke Energy seeks Nuclear Operations Technician I/II to monitor and operate plant equipment, perform surveillances, and support safety and maintenance activities. The role includes hands-on operation, rigorous training, and progression toward licensed positions.

Candidates should be prepared for shift work, overtime, and a dynamic, high-humidity nuclear environment while pursuing classroom and on-the-job training to advance from AO toward RO/SRO licensing.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required for Tech I/II
• Multiple paths to qualification (RO/SRO, naval nuclear, or engineering/PE degree)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and safety awareness required

Responsibilities

• Serve as active member of the Fire Brigade
• Report system/component status using the round process
• Start/stop plant equipment per operating procedures
• Perform tests and checks on system operability
• Isolate and restore equipment
• Outdoor surveillance year-round, day and night
• Pursue RO/SRO licenses through formal training
