Berkeley Lab is offering a Hoffman Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow position in Nuclear Nonproliferation. The two-year fellowship supports early-career scientists to build long-term careers within the DOE national laboratory system, based at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a technical field and less than three years of paid postdoctoral experience by Oct 1, 2027.

Formación

• Ph.D. in a technical field such as chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, earth or atmospheric sciences, geophysics, or related discipline.
• Less than three years of paid postdoctoral experience as of Oct 1, 2027.
• Strong academic record with publications and presentations.
• Ability to conduct independent research with sound scientific judgment.
• Interest in a long-term career in nuclear nonproliferation within the DOE national laboratory system.
• Willingness to explore opportunities at multiple national laboratories and locations.

Responsabilidades

• Define project scope, objectives, and research strategies for independent research on nonproliferation.
• Manage budget, schedule, milestones, and adapt plans as results emerge.
• Execute technical work, experimental, field-based, or computational, with cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Ensure high-quality data through sound instrumentation, modeling, or analysis practices.
• Communicate results via peer-reviewed publications, reports, and sponsor engagements.
• Build collaborations across Berkeley Lab and the DOE national laboratory complex.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, high-performing research environment.
• Participate in NextGen programs: leadership, project management, and career development.
• Engage in seminars and group meetings to foster interdisciplinary exchange.
