Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a technical field (chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, earth or atmospheric sciences, geophysics, or related)
• Less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience as of Oct 1, 2027
• Strong academic record with publications/presentations
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
• Interest in long-term nuclear nonproliferation career within the DOE lab system

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, and research strategies for an independent project in nuclear nonproliferation
• Manage project budget, schedule, and milestones
• Execute experimental, field-based, or computational work and collaborate across disciplines
• Ensure high-quality data through sound instrumentation, measurement, modeling, or analysis
• Communicate results via peer-reviewed publications, reports, and presentations
• Build collaborative networks across Berkeley Lab and the DOE complex
• Promote a safe, inclusive, high-performing research environment
• Participate in NextGen programming including leadership, project management, and career development
• Engage in seminars and group meetings to broaden scientific perspective
