Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Nuclear Radiology Generalist to deliver accurate imaging in a fast-paced setting and ensure patient safety. You will integrate scientific knowledge with compassionate care to produce diagnostic results and assist radiologists.

The role requires formal radiology training, relevant certifications, and ongoing engagement in education. You will liaise with patients and the radiology team to maintain workflow and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Formal diagnostic radiology education and licensing prerequisites.
• Certifications in radiologic technology and CT proficiency required.
• Nuclear medicine registry or ARRT special registrations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess contraindications and patient readiness for procedures.
• Provide information to patients, providers and learners about roles.

• Perform high-quality imaging and protect patients with shielding.

Job description

We are searching for a Nuclear Radiology Generalist - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will integrate scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction and compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The Generalist must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Nuclear Radiology Generalist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and technique. They must possess, utilize, maintain and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients and others. Nuclear Radiology Generalist prepares, administers and document activities related to mediations in accordance with state regulations and institution policy. The Generalist is a liaison between patients, radiologist and other members of the support team.

Responsibilities:

• Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure; such as, medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation or artifacts
• Provides information to patients, health care providers, students and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of individuals in the profession
• Applies principles of ALARA, including use of technical factors according to technical specifications, to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
• Performs high quality imaging procedures: determines technical factors, identifies and removes artifact producing objects, and utilizes shielding devices to protect the patient, self and others
• Responsible for precise, complete and accurate data entry and image management in appropriate technology infrastructure: EPIC, PACS, etc.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency, and initiates emergency procedures
• Participates and leads continuing education in-service programs, reads professional publications, reviews procedure manuals and attends trainings
• Builds rapport and facilitates communication inside the department: network coordinate activities, strive to become a contact person within your workgroup

Skills & Requirements

Technical diploma Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program required

CMRT - Cert Med Radiologic Techngst by the Texas Medical Board AND CT-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Comp Tomography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required for staff employed in Houston: to be completed by September 3, 2025, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later. For Staff employed in Austin: to be completed by March 3, 2027, or within 18 months of entry into role, whichever is later.

CNMT - Cert-Cert Nuclear Medical TECH NMTCB required OR N-ARRT - ARRT RegTech by the Nuclear Med Tech American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
