Nuclear Medicine Technologist - PRN - Dallas, TX

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist works externally at client facilities to perform radiology diagnostic tests for patients. They have expertise in nuclear medicine procedures, utilizing radiopharmaceuticals to produce diagnostic images for physicians to interpret.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Requirements:

·Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing diagnostic procedures and related responsibilities in a hospital or outpatient setting; two (2) + years preferred.

·Minimum of Associates degree in related filed; preferred Bachelor’s degree in related field.

·Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Radiology Technology program required.

·Certification/Licensure: 1) ARRT or 2) NMTCB.

·Valid Driver’s License in the State of employment and eligible to maintain insurability.

·Experience with hybrid imaging modalities, such as PET/CT and SPECT/CT.

·Knowledge of advanced radiology techniques, including Doppler and elastography.

·Familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and other imaging software.

Nuclear Medicine Job Responsibilities:

·Perform a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, including PET scans, SPECT scans, bone scans, thyroid scans, and cardiac imaging.

·Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process clearly to ensure their comfort and understanding.

·Monitor patients during and after procedures for any adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals or other medications.

·Adhere to radiation safety protocols and guidelines to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure.

·Operate and maintain imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT/CT systems.

·Troubleshoot any equipment issues and report malfunctions to the appropriate department for repairs.

·Accurately document patient details, procedures performed, and radiopharmaceuticals used.

·Work closely with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare providers to assist in the interpretation of imaging results.

·Provide technical expertise in identifying imaging anomalies and assisting with diagnostic procedures.

·Monitor the quality of imaging results, making adjustments as necessary to ensure clarity and diagnostic utility.

·Stay up-to-date with advancements in nuclear medicine techniques and technologies through continuing education and training.

·Ensure all procedures are in compliance with relevant regulations, including radiation safety guidelines, hospital protocols, and industry standards.

·Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

·Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff at client facilities, management and peers.

Supervision:

·Position reports to Zone Manager for appropriate Region.

Work Environment:

·Position requires providing own transportation to and from client locations to perform duties. Radiology duties performed at client locations.

Physical Effort:

·The position occasionally requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heaving lifting up to 20 lbs., pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout time tests are performed. Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operation of equipment.

Public Contact:

·Requires some public contact client patients, client staff and doctors requiring considerable interpersonal skill, professionalism and customer service.

Technical Skills:

·Requires knowledge of facility radiology equipment and performance requirements.
