Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine PET CT Technologist utilizes radioactive isotopes to perform diagnostic and therapeutic examinations, assisting physicians with diagnosis and treatment. Exams include NM Bone Scan, NM Amyloid Scans, NM Cardiac Exams, Copper 64, Pylarify Prostate Imaging, Rubidium Cardiac exams, and treatments such as I 131 Thyroid Therapy, Y90 Liver Ablation, and Xofigo Prostate Therapy.

Job Responsibilities

1. Operate instrumentation following imaging and radiation protection guidelines.
2. Recognize and respond to emergency situations per policy.
3. Provide 'On Call' coverage.
4. Ensure proper Quality Control of Nuclear Medicine and PET CT equipment, report malfunctions.
5. Perform IV-line placement, blood glucose checks, and monitoring.
6. Conduct vital sign checks and document accurately.
7. Instruct nuclear medicine and x-ray student technologists on procedures and policies.
8. Consult with physicians to determine appropriate protocols.
9. Administer radiopharmaceuticals following nursing practices and ensure patient safety.
10. Maintain records of radioactive materials' receipt, dispensing, and disposal.
11. Ensure equipment operates properly and report issues.
12. Produce and analyze diagnostic images for quality and process images electronically.
13. Apply radiation protection to minimize exposure.
14. Maintain knowledge of PACS, EMR, and Nuclear Medicine Information System.

Education

Required: Associate's Degree from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.

Experience

Preferred: At least one year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine/PET CT Technologist.

Skills/Certifications/Licenses

Required: ARRT (N) or NMTCB registration, BLS certification, and comprehensive knowledge of Nuclear Medicine Imaging.
