Job Description

Summary:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform a variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures, support other imaging technologists, and facilitate smooth patient flow. The technologist must be flexible to work different shifts and campuses, troubleshoot basic maintenance issues, participate in QA, and resolve image processing and archiving system problems. Ongoing education and adherence to safety and technical standards are expected. The technologist must follow radiation safety protocols when handling radionuclides and pharmaceuticals, complete daily logs, and maintain imaging competencies as outlined by management. Behavior and communication skills should align with the organization’s mission, values, and culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote staff growth, development, and engagement by collaborating with management, coworkers, and physicians to create an optimal work environment.
  • Assist radiologists and referring physicians to ensure exceptional physician satisfaction.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and disclose information only as necessary for job duties.
  • Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to meet individual needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Perform examinations/procedures within the scope of license, certification, and competencies to aid patient throughput.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working different shifts and campuses as needed.
  • Ensure exams are correctly scanned and stored in PACS, follow PACS downtime procedures, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and follow up accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or equivalent.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of clinical nuclear medicine experience.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • ARTR or NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technology certification required.
  • State licensure required (e.g., MRT by TMB in Texas, LRT (N) or (F) by LSRTBE in Louisiana, NMT by MIRTP NMED in New Mexico).
  • BLS certification required.
