Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Per Diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Somerville, NJ.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
Preferred:
- PET Experience is a Plus
- Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Current NJ State license, ARRT and/or NMTCB certification
- BLS certification
Scheduling Requirements:
Essential Functions:
- Perform all hot lab related functions, including receiving, using, and discarding radiopharmaceuticals following vendor, departmental, and DEP regulations
- Calibrate dose calibrator and perform QC procedures on gamma cameras, notifying lead tech of malfunctions
- Identify patients (IP and OP) per hospital SOP before procedures
- Explain procedures clearly to patients, including wait times, and ensure patient comfort
- Obtain high-quality images using prescribed technical parameters
- Ensure tests are performed properly with valid and accurate results before patient release
- Assist nuclear physician with special imaging procedures
- Maintain department cleanliness and organization
- Complete special assignments from supervisor timely
- Follow hospital, state, and federal regulations
- Provide courteous assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors, and co-workers
- Respond effectively to instructions from peers and superiors
- Determine appropriate times to discuss work strategies
- Perform other departmental duties as assigned
- Work overtime when needed
- Assist with non-technical tasks within the department
- Perform additional duties as necessary
