Responsibilities
- Proficiently perform nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including therapy, QMP, PET/CT, and backup for nuclear pharmacist roles.
- Review patient records, obtain medical history, and verify physician orders for accuracy.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and adjunct medications following prescriptions and exam parameters. Perform venipuncture and manage vascular access devices, adhering to safety standards like ALARA. Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to relevant staff and departments.
- Post-process and label images accurately, ensuring all patient and scan details are correct.
- Maintain regulatory records, enter data into the radiology information system, and document billing information.
- Identify equipment issues, perform quality assurance, and report malfunctions.
- Serve as a resource and role model for staff and students, facilitating clinical problem-solving and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Perform patient positioning and transportation duties safely, using proper techniques.
- Provide age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
Minimum Requirements
- Licensure/Certification: ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification, and BLS certification within 6 months.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent knowledge.
- Experience: Typically 2 years in a Nuclear Medicine Technologist role.
- Skills: Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, IV/venipuncture, ECG interpretation, communication, independence, and computer skills.
- Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, perform transfers, and work in various physical conditions, with proper safety precautions.
